FACTS Shaheen is one of the most exotic stallions of his
time. As a yearling he was purchased by Omar Sakr and exported to
Egypt. A few months later, Shaheen became the first American-bred
colt to win a Championship in Egypt, earning both the Junior Championship
and Most Classic Head titles. An appropriate welcome for this young
"son of the desert"! Today Shaheen has sired an impressive
number of champion get - space does not permit to list them here,
but his most successful son is Ghazal Sakr who won
Shaheen's sire, El Hadiyyah (Ansata Ibn Halima x Ansata
Jellabia), emerges as one of the most popular sons of Ansata Ibn Halima.
El Haddiyah foals travelled to Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Kuwait, joining
other breeders who discovered his unique quality in England, Chile,
Canada, the Phillipines and Australia. Shaheen's dam, Bint Bint Hamamaa
(Ansata Ibn Sudan x Bint Hamamaa), is one of the foundation mares
of Al Nakeeb Arabians in Great Britain. She passed to his son substance
and style along with a big trot.
At the 1998 "Egyptian Arabian Horse Event"
in Cairo (the private breeders' show), Shaheen again ascended to the
throne of Champion, this time claiming the honor of Get of Sire Champion,
as well as siring the Junior Champion Colt
Ghazal Sakr. Shaheen earned his first defeat ever in the most
Classic Head Championship, placing second to Ghazal Sakr. In 2003
Ghazal Sakr was named National Champion Stallion of Egypt.
