Cornelia Tauschke’s El Thayeba Stud in northern Germany is regarded as one of the most successful straight Egyptian breeding programs in Europe today. The "El Thay" prefix is synonymous with elegant and and ultra-refined horses, combining beauty with correct conformation and sound legs. The dedicated breeder Cornelia Tauschke prefers horses with airy trot and high hock action. The El Thayeba horses are known for throwing their tail over their back and prance so that their feet barely touch the ground. They are beautiful athletes.
Three home-bred mares served as foundation for the El Thayeba program: El Thay Maheera (Nizam x Mona II), El Thay Mansoura (Machmut x Morawa) und Kamla II (Ansata Halim Shah x Mona III). All three ladies were awarded the "Elite" title of the German Arab Horse Society for their exceptional contribution to the breed. Especially Kamla II became a leading force in the El Thayeba broodmare band by producing exquisite offspring. Kamla’s blood is in great demand in the Middle East where her get and grand-get grace nearly every major farm. Famous horses like El Thay Khemal Pasha in Egypt, El Thay Mashour in Qatar or the German National Champion Filly El Thay Kamla stem from this line.

Ansata Selman
Since October again in Qatar |
Cornelia saw the stallion Ansata Selman (Ansata Hejazi x G Shafaria) for the first time as a two-year-old colt in Qatar and later brought him to Germany. After his presentation at the German Stallion Show where he received a rare Gold medal, Ansata Selman went on to become busy – and successful – in the breeding barn. Today his oldest sons turned three and are on the way to begin their own breeding careers. Selman himself was re-sold to Qatar. "Since October he is at home at the new Al Warbh Stud of Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani, the older brother of Sheikh Abdulaziz," Cornelia says. Sheikh Abdullah’s sons Sheikh Ahmed and Sheikh Jassim support their father with great enthusiam in his new adventure. "All breeders in Qatar are pleased to have Selman back again," she relates. Cornelia has retained frozen semen of Selman to use him in the future but Selman’s sons El Thay Mahfouz and El Thay Melek are waiting in the wings already...

El Thay Mahfouz
(Ansata Selman x |
"A pure and exotic beauty!" This is how Cornelia describes the three-year-old colt El Thay Mahfouz (Ansata Selman x El Thay Mahfouza by El Thay Ibn Halim Shah). When you see him you’ll understand that this is no exaggeration. Handsome and extremely charming, Mahfouz is one of Cornelia’s favourites!

El Thay Mahfouz
"Pure and exotic!" |
Four generations of El Thayeba breeding, Mahfouz traces in tail female line to El Thay Mansoura. His dam, El Thay Mahfouza (El Thay Ibn Halim Shah x El Thay Mansoura) is a valuable member of the El Thayeba broodmare band and was awarded the "Premium Mare" title of the German Arab Horse Society, a title given to superior representatives of the breed only. His maternal granddam El Thay Mansoura and her dam Morawa (Nizam x Momtaza) are both "Elite Mares". Momtaza was one of the few Sameh daughters ever imported to Europe and a full sister to the Imperial foundation mare, Fawkia. Cornelia couldn’t resist and bred three mares to the exciting young colt last spring. "Now I hardly can’t wait to see Mahfouz’s very first foals..."

El Thay Melek
(Ansata Selman x El Thay Maheera) |
Powerful. Upright. Athletic. Masculine. These attributes come to mind when you see the bold-moving El Thay Melek (Ansata Selman x El Thay Maheera) prancing through the paddock. He doesn’t pedal with his front legs or struggle with the hind legs – no, he knows how to use his hocks and trots like hell! He belies all those claiming an Egyptian Arabian horse could not move like a real athlete. He certainly can!

El Thay Melek
The last son of his well-known mother |
Is it any wonder Cornelia broke him in and made him her personal mount? Before Melek is allowed to breed his first mares next year, she will test him under saddle. "Business before pleasure," she smiles...

El Thay Kalil
(El Thay Mashour x Kamla II) |
El Thay Kalil is a son of Cornelia’s longtime herdsire, El Thay Mashour (Madkour I x El Thay Bint Kamla), who know resides in Qatar. When bred to his own granddam Kamla II, he sired some exceptional horses like the above mentioned multi-champion mare El Thay Kamla. Her younger full brother El Thay Kalil (born in 2005) is "a typical son of his sire," relates Cornelia. His extreme type coupled with fluid movement and impressive demeanor make him a sure bet for the breeding barn. Kalil certainly will follow in his sire’s hoofprints.

His full sister is the National Champion Mare El Thay Kamla |

El Thay Kamila
(El Thay Mashour x Kamla II) |
Kalil’s older full sister El Thay Kamila (born in 2003) posesses the class and style of her sister El Thay Kamla – perhaps she is even more beautiful. Hopefully she will enter the showring some day. This elegant and extremely typey filly also has extravagant movement with much suspenison at the trot. Good conformation, a lovely head and a lot of pizazz – this is Kamila! A mare many breeders would like to have in their own barn but Cornelia is not interested to part with her.

El Thay Malaka
(El Thay Mashour x El Thay Mahfouza) |
El Thay Malaka (El Thay Mashour x El Thay Mahfouza) is the younger half sister to El Thay Mahfouz – and it definitely shows. The two-year old filly posesses the same exotic like her brother and promises to mature into a breathtakinly beautiful mare.
 |
El Thay Mezna
(Teymur B x El Thay Magidaa) |
"Finally she produced a daughter!" When El Thay Magidaa (El Thay Mameluk x El Thay Maheera) had delivered the filly El Thay Mezna, Cornelia couldn’t believe her eyes: After all this years her prized broodmare Magidaa had changed her mind and presented her owner with the desired daughter. What a surprise! "All credits go to Robert Schlereth’s stallion Teymur B," Cornelia smiles. "He supplied the booked filly!" El Thay Mezna is everything Cornelia could have hoped for, a carbon copy of her famous dam. "Thank you Teymur B – mission accomplished!"

Mathiya Al Sabah
(Adnan x Mathea M) |
Mathiya Al Sabah is one of the few daughters of the famous Adnan (Salaa El Dine x Ghazalah) in Germany. Her dam Mathea M (Maysoun x Mesoudah M) is a full sister to the international multi-champion stallion Maydan-Madheen. Mathiya Al Sabah is owned by Cornelia’s longtime companion, Klaus Beste. "In January she will get all our attention," Cornelia says. "Because then she is going to deliver the very first El Thay Mahfouz foal!"
 |
El Thay Ra'ida
(Carsal Tahsoun x El Thay Rosetta) |
"It was an experiment.“ A successful one, Cornelia might add. "Let’s see what the delicate, white El Thay Rosetta will produce with the big, bold and black Tahsoun (Ansata Exemplar x El Thay Taghreed)!" Klaus Beste came forward with this suggestion back in 2001. The result was the dark grey mare El Thay Ra’ida, who combines the extravagant trot of her sire with the type of her dam. Like El Thay Kamila, she is a member of the coveted Kamla II line.
